India will probably stick with Rishab Pant for Semi Final against England

India is likely to go with an unchanged XI for the second semifinal against England at the Adelaide Oval in the 2022 World T20 Series. This means that Rishabh Pant, who played his first game against Zimbabwe the other night at MCG, though without much success, would be given the nod ahead of veteran finisher Dinesh Kartik, who was part of the playing XI in the first four games but with little returns.

Kartik was seen spending the longest time in the nets on Tuesday (November 8) but Pant looks favourite to retain his place in the XI for the all important clash. An opportunity for Pant would mean Hardik Pandya, will have to take the specialised role of finisher but the playing XI may still not change much.

The unaltered combination would also mean left arm spin bowler Axar Patel will be preferred over leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, the only member in the fifteen member squad to not get a chance to compete in the showpiece event. There is however a slight temptation to unleash a wrist spinner against England in the semifinal but chances are that the winning combination will remain unchanged for the Knockout game unless there is an extreme change in conditions and weather ahead of the game.

The team management seems to be taking a lot of determinants into consideration, including the dimensions of the Adelaide Oval, which is not as huge as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where clearing the fence has been quite a humongous task.

Meanwhile, it is now definite that Rohit Sharma will be available for Thursday despite sustaining a hit in the nets and his injury is not so serious, something he demonstrated by spending quite some time batting after the hit.
