Emotional Night at Juventus as they bid adieu to Giorgio Chiellini and Paolo Dybala

Juventus fans said goodbye to their captain, Giorgio Chiellini, and forward Paolo Dybala on Monday night’s Serie A match against Lazio at the Allianz Arena. The visitors scored a late leveler to ruin the farewell party in Turin by equalizing the game 2-2.

Dusan Vlahovic scored a header in the 10th minute of the game from Alvero Morata’s assist and did the Argentine’s mask celebration. When Chiellini was substituted in the 17th minute of the game, fans chanted ‘There is only one Captain’ as a giant improvisation of his shirt number ‘3’ was displayed on the stands. Then the center-back took off his captain’s armband and handed it to Dybala before being replaced by Matthijs de Ligt. By the time Chilleini was shaking hands with fans and blowing kisses to the crowd, Morata doubled the lead in the 36th minute by putting Juventus in a 2-goal lead in their final home game of the season.

However, Alex Sandro shoved into his own net in the 51st minute of the game providing  Lazio a hope. While the home team was still holding their lead, Juve Manager Massimiliano Allegri subbed Dybala off with 12 minutes left in hand, allowing him to spend his last few moments with the club.

Later, Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio pushed for a leveler which came in the 95th minute. Playing his last home match for the Turin club which he was in for the last 18 years, Chiellini could only watch the late equalizer by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic cruising past Mattia Perin from a narrow angle that helped the Rome club to clinch a place in the Europa League. While Juventus finished in the fourth spot in the league table.

Following his departure from Juve, Georgio said that he will decide whether to hang his boots after having already decided to retire from international football only after playing Argentina in the Wembley stadium in the month of June. The 9 consecutive Serie-A title winner won the Euro 2020 campaign at the declining years of his career.

On the other hand, Paolo, who joined Juventus in the year 2015, was visibly overwrought after leaving the Allianz arena pitch. Dybala’s teammates whirled and lifted him into the air before bidding him a last goodbye. The 28 years old Argentine for his impressive displays had been in the eyeball of English clubs Manchester United and Tottenham in the past, though Arsenal now has a fair chance to seize their rival’s passed-off opportunity.
