Vinicius Jr. showed his class as Real Madrid beat Sevilla 2-1

A standing ovation from Santiago Bernabeu for Vinicius Junior, as the 21-year-old Brazilian scored a brilliant goal to secure Real Madrid’s win against Sevilla. His long range effort after dribbling two-three defenders was spectacular and is of course in the race to become the best goal of the season.

He however didn’t have a very good game. The Sevilla defenders kept him quiet but if you got the class like Vinicius does, you can change the fate of the game anytime you want. Like Vinicius, Real Madrid didn’t have a great start. Rafa Mir, Scored an early goal that put Sevilla ahead at Madrid but the team knows how to make a comeback. The Los Blancos created some good chances to come back to level terms and they did right before the half time. Eder Militao’s long range effort created the chance as Bono, Sevilla’s keeper failed to carry it and Benzema just tapped the ball in to put Real Madrid into level terms.

Vinicius of course doubled the lead in the 87th minute and that sealed the deal for Madrid. He has been phenomenal in La Liga this season and scored his 9th in the league. In the post match presentation, Casemiro had a lot to say about his young teammate. The Brazilian said, “Great players like Vinicius are like that. If you give him one opportunity, they will punish you”. He added, “Vinicius knows that teams will plan to neutralize him because they are aware of his quality, of the momentum he has. He is a top player and he showed why”.

The kind of form Real Madrid is in, they are the hot favourites to win the league this time. The team is showing great strength of character and determination. David Alaba has restored the faith in Madrid’s defense after Sergio Ramos missed the majority of the season last time and that cost Real Madrid some crucial points. This team looks like it will be a perfect one and most importantly, Carlo Ancelotti’s attacking strategy just works for this time every single time.
