Women's World T20 Cup 2023

Group A, Match 7- SA-W vs NZ-W

Preview

South Africa Women (SA-W) and New Zealand Women (NZ-W) will lock horns in match number 7 of the Women’s World T20 Cup 2023 at Paarl’s Boland Park on Monday. South Africa suffered a major upset in their opening clash against Sri Lanka. The bowlers did a decent job to restrict Sri Lanka to 129/4 while bowling first. But they could only muster 126 runs on the board in reply with skipper Sume Luss scoring 28 runs off 27 balls.

Like SA-W, NZ-W started their World Cup campaign on a dismal note. They suffered a massive loss against Australia in the previous match. Batting first the women in yellow posted a formidable total of 173/9. Amelia Kerr with three wickets to her name was the pick of the NZ bowlers. NZ batters in reply failed miserably and were bundled out for a partly score of 76. The white ferns will however fancy their chances against SA-W against whom they have a remarkable winning record.  They have only lost one of their last five T20I encounters against South Africa and are therefore favourites to win this game.

New Zealand has the firepower to win since they have a quality batter in Sophie Devine and a competent all rounder in Amelia Kerr. Suzie Bates has a formidable presence at the top of the batting order, while Lea Tahuhu's power-hitting offers them batting depth. We predict the white ferns to win this encounter.
