Experience is now a burden in Indian Cricket, latest matches show!

Be it Test cricket or One Day Internationals; nothing is working for Indian team at the moment. South African series was supposed to be historic as India looked to dominate them and win the series but, in the end, they will be coming empty handed after a devastating performance in the African land. While dissecting the reason behind the cause, only one thing is coming and that is that we backed wrong players in the wrong time.

Talking about test cricket, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara has won us several matches in the past. However, the du isn’t in their best shape but Captain Virat Kohli backed them and the result didn’t go our way. Shreyas Iyer who scored back-to-back hundreds against New Zealand was dropped and, in the end, it didn’t help Indian Cricket at all. Moral of the story is that we went for experienced players and dropped talented players like Shreyas Iyer and the result didn’t go our way as we lose the test series 2-1.

However, the test series is all in the past but looks like the Indian cricket hasn’t learned anything from it. No doubt that Bhuvneshwar Kumar s a match winner but with the World Series is just one year away, you should give players like Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and others more opportunities for them to get ready for the biggest tournament. Now, Bhuvneshwar isn’t that great he used to be. In South Africa, where the pace bowlers dominate with pace and bounce, Bhuvneshwar was bowling in 125-10 kmph. Rishabh Pant was right behind the stumps. Now, honestly, he isn’t a part time bowler. Thus, for a full-time bowler this is probably not acceptable in Indian Cricket. Specially, with the kind of talent we have in our ranks.

Also, our spinners have not been able to do the damage. A lot was expected from Ravichandran Ashwin but the off-spinner has not been able to show his true class. Even though it is too early to talk about him but players like Ravi Bishnoi should be called up from the next time. Just to keep him in the loop as the youngster has done some tremendous job in the Indian T20 League.

Lastly, coming to KL Rahul. Well, of course he isn’t a burden but his captaincy has not been any good. He has tremendous potential but hasn’t really achieved anything to be called a great captain. As the Vice-Captain of the side, KL needs to show some true quality and be able to deal with pressure situations well. The newly appointed Lucknow skipper didn’t give Venkatesh Iyer the bowl in the first match at all. Even when the team needed a wicket. Thus, by the looks of it, he needs to polish himself really well to be up among the top horses.
