Preview 

The Australian T20 fever is on, and we’re ready for Match 2, where the Strikers will lock horns against last year’s runners-up, the Sixers, at the iconic Adelaide Oval. The hosts missed out on a final spot last season, and it was the Sixers who knocked them out in the Challenger. There will be a little tension around this game, as the hosts will want to avenge their loss. 

Strikes have a very talented squad, but they will miss the services of Travis Head as he is on national duty. So, their batting will revolve around the likes of Chris Lynn, Adam Hose and Colin De Grandhomme. They do have another exciting prospect in the form of Matthew Short, who can be pretty dangerous too. Their bowling attack is led by veteran Peter Siddle, who will once again look to make a telling impression on the tournament. They also have spin wizard Rashid Khan in the mix, who can single handedly change the course of any game. Overall, this Strikers team look menacing who can cause plenty of problems to their opponents. 

Sixers on the other hand have unarguably emerged as one of the most consistent franchises over the last three seasons, clinching two titles and, Moises Henriques has done a tremendous job leading his side from the front. Like Chennai (Indian T20 franchise), Sixers rely more on experience than youth, and have been successful too. Their squad comprises players like Ben Dwarshius, Dan Christian, and Hayden Kerr, who will instantly try to create a considerable impact on the competition. They possess James Vince and Kurtis which makes their batting even stronger.  Another surprise element in this lineup is Steve Smith. Chris Jordan and Sean Abbott will be their frontline pacers, while Todd Murphy lead the spin prowess as Nathan Lyon is not available at the moment.

Wicket Keeper

Josh Phillipe- The promising wicket keeper batter scored heavily last year. He has been a revelation for Henriques and co at the top of the order. Watch out for him in this mouth watering fixture.  

Batters

Kurtis Patterson- The southpaw has a knack of keeping the scoreboard ticking. He has a solid technique and can pose a threat to the opposition bowlers. 

Chris Lynn- The opening batter is recognised for his power hitting prowess at the top. He is in scintillating form off late, scoring heaps of runs in the UAE T10 League. We fancy the premier striker to continue his explosive run.

All Rounders 

Colin Gradhomme- The NZ all rounder will have to bring his A game particularly with bat in hand in the absence of Travis Head. He is someone you can bank upon to bowl during the middle overs and provide late blitz to the Strikers innings with bat in hand. 

Bowlers 

Chris Jordan: The English pacer is vastly experienced and has the calibre to pick wickets with both the new ball and old ball in hand. Keep a keen eye on this death over specialist.  

Peter Siddle- The Aussie quickie has had a successful career in the Australian T20 League. With 90 wickets in 68 matches, the seasoned campaigner will have his task cut out against a potent Sixers batting lineup.  

Match Prediction 

Sixers hold the edge over Strikers in the head to head battle, but if we look at their current form then they have looked a little wobbly. Strikers on the other hand are coming into this match with a four match winning streak. They will also enjoy the home advantage. We back Strikers to win this game and open their 2022 Aus- T20 League campaign on a positive note.
