The 2022 edition of the UAE T10 League has progressed to the qualifiers. The first qualifier match will be played between the debutants New York Franchise and the Morrisville Samp Army. The game consists of an excellent pool of players who have performed exceptionally well and were the two top teams in the competition. While NYS lead the group stage having 6 wins and 1 loss, MSA had just one loss more than their rivals in the overall 7 matches they played. 

The only time the two teams clashed in this league, NYS managed to fetch a win by 12 runs. Azam Khan scored 47 off just 21 balls in the first innings to take NYS to a total of 110 runs. The Samp Army bowlers had some splendid demonstration as Dwaine Pretorius and Karim Janat picked 3 wickets each, with Anrich Nortje taking two. In the second innings, MSA skipper Moeen Ali led from the front and scored 42 runs off 25 balls but failed to chase the target because of brilliant bowling from the other side. They had 5 wickets left when they lost but failed to score quick runs in front of the NSA bowlers. Ravi Rampaul took 2 wickets, the most from the bowling side.

The New York-based team was led by the Caribbean star Kieron Pollard and consists of players like the magical wizard Rashid Khan who made their bowling attack look more lethal. On the other hand, the Samp Army is a more consistent squad who demonstrated all-round performance in league matches. The Morrisville side is led by the English all-rounder Moeen Ali, this team features some of the best batters and all-rounders in the cricket fraternity. With power-hitters like Johnson Charles, David Miller, and Shimron Hetmyer to all-rounders like the skipper himself and Dwaine Pretorius. The bowlers’ guild is led by the South African pace sensation Anrich Nortje and co. With all of them, the first qualifier will seemingly be a firecracker show.

In recent times, there have been a lot of tournaments happening in Dubai. When it comes to T20I cricket, there have been a total of 63 matches at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The team batting second has won 35 games out of the total. 

In the T10 format of the game, it is important to get a high-scoring target on the board. Batters play a greater role than the bowling department in this game. This is because a bowler gets only 2 overs which is comparatively lesser than other formats and it is tough to execute their plans within such a short span. Hence, the captains winning the toss might prefer to bat first and score maximum runs. This will pressure the chasing team and restrict the flow of runs. 

The average run at this venue is 135 runs and the average per over is approx 7 runs in T20I cricket. However, it would definitely change in the T10 League games.

Match Prediction

Although in their last meet, the Samp Army faced a bitter defeat, that doesn’t make them any less capable of winning in this match. They are more consistent and capable than the New York side. Hence we believe that Morrisville Samp Army will come on top at the end of this game.
