World T20 Series 2021 Injury Updates

Bangladesh paceman, Mohammad Saifuddin has been ruled out of the ongoing World T20 Series with a back pain.  Senior fast bowler Rubel Hossain has been called in as the replacement of the 24 year old in the 15 men squad. As per a team official, Saifuddin expressed dissatisfaction over the left side of his shoulder after the match against Sri Lanka. This is not the first time when the fast bowler has complained about back pain. He had back issues in the 2019 World Cup as well and took cortisone injections to continue but missed a few matches along the way.

Earlier Lockie Ferguson was replaced by Adam Milne in New Zealand’s 15 men squad. According to a NZ media source the 30 year old quickie felt a mild discomfort in his left calf during a training session on tuesday. The subsequent MRI scan revealed a grade two tear which typically takes 3 to 4 weeks for recovery. This is a big blow for the black caps. Ferguson was not only effective with the ball in hand but was also a gun in the field.  Milne is a like to like replacement but will he have the same impact as Ferguson? I guess only time will tell.
