Asia T20 2022

Match 5- SL vs BAN

Preview

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will lock horns in match number 5 of the Asia T20 2022 on Thursday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. It is a do or die for both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh who lost their respective opening games against Afghanistan. The winner of this game will advance to the Super Four stage with Afghanistan.

Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh put on a dreadful batting display against Afghanistan. First it was Sri Lanka who faced the wrath of the Afghans. Fazal Haq Farooqi exhibited a pace bowling masterclass and ended the game with impressive match figures of 3/11. None of the Sri Lankan batters looked comfortable during their stay at the crease and were eventually bundled out for less than 110. Bhanu Rajapaksa with 38 was the top scorer for the Asian side. He alongside Kusal Mendis and Dasun Shanaka will hold the key for the Lankans in the batting department against Bangladesh. In the bowling prowess the Lankans will be hoping the spin duo of Mahesh Teekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga to perform well.

For Bangladesh, it will be about their big players stepping up. Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmadullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim have failed to create any impact on the tournament thus far. They will need to fire in all cylinders if Bangladesh are to qualify for the Super League stage.

Hot Fantasy Picks

(i) Batters

Bhanuka Rajapaksa: The southpaw looked solid in the last game. He is one of the better batters in SL’s fragile midder order

Pathum Nissanka: The 24 year old packs a punch with bat in hand. His essential traits include a clear strategy, a determined desire, and an iron will.

 (ii) All Rounders

Wanindu Hasaranga: Hasaranaga is regarded as one of the finest bowling all rounders in white ball cricket at the moment. He is accurate with his clever deceptions with ball in hand and is a pretty handy batter down the order.

Mosaddek Hossain: Hossain scored a lone hand in Bangladesh’s woeful batting display against Afghanistan. He is a decent all rounder who can bat, bowl and is a prominent talent overall.

(iii) Bowlers

Mahesh Theekshana: The 22 year old is a dangerous customer with the ball. He is known for his subtle variations and ability to attack at all times.

Mustafizur Rahman: Rahman was taken for plenty of runs in the last game. But despite that we fancy the left arm fast medium bowler to do well.

(iv) Wicket Keeper

Mushfiqur Rahman: The pocket dynamite is a seasoned campaigner who knows to pace his innings as per the situation of the match.

Match Prediction

It’s now or never for both these sides. Both will go hard at each other and we can expect an evenly matched contest between ball and bat. We fancy Dasun Shanka’s men to win this game and go through to the next round.
