Hardik Pandya is set to lead the Ahmedabad franchise in the upcoming Indian T20 League
Hardik Pandya is very likely to lead the Ahmedabad franchise in Indian T20 League
There were a couple names that were in discussion but the latest report says that the hometown boy, Hardik Pandya is very likely to lead the Ahmedabad franchise in the upcoming Indian T20 League. Other than him, there was Shreyas Iyer who was in touch with this new franchise but the owners and management of the CVC Capitals have decided to go with Pandya. According to sources, the former Delhi captain is a marquee choice for the Kolkata and Bangalore based franchise.
Not just the Indian all-rounder, initial reports claim that Rashid Khan may also join the Ahmedabad franchise. The Afghani spinner was in touch with the Lucknow franchise as well but with KL Rahul being their first choice, the Afghani decided not to settle below 15 cr. The same problem he faced in Hyderabad. The Ahmedabad franchise is offering him 15 crore and is making him their first pick while Hardik will be their second picked player.
After missing out on Rashid Khan, the Lucknow franchise is looking for Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada as his potential replacements. The interesting part about this is that the Lucknow franchise has not given up on Rashid Khan. Now, if you follow Indian Football closely, you will know one thing for sure that Sanjeev Goenka gets what he wants. No matter what or how much it takes. So, before the auction, expect some cracking contest between these two new franchises.
It can also be said with absolute certainty that Ashish Nehra is going to be the head coach of the Ahmedabad franchise. Gary Kirsten will work as the mentor of the team while Vikram Solanki will be the Director of Cricket. Nehra who has worked with Yuzvendra Chahal before wants him to be a part of the squad while the Lucknow franchise is also monitoring the player along with Rahul Chahar. At this moment, David Warner is not linked with any of the franchise and he is very likely going to the auction table, which might get delayed because of the covid scenario in the country.
