Shikhar Dhawan to lead ODI squad against West Indies 

The selection committee on Wednesday announced the Indian squad for the ODI series against West Indies. India will be playing the West Indies on 22nd, 24th and 27th of this month.

The committee decided to rest the main players namely batters Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, all rounder Hardik Pandya and prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah. 

Shikhar Dhawan is appointed as the captain for the ODI series and Ravindra Jadeja is named as the Vice-Captain. Sanju Samson gets a call up and it’s a great opportunity for him to make his place count in the ODIs. Along with him Shubhman Gill, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan are some of the players to keep an eye on. 

India’s squad for 3 ODIs: Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (vice-captain), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.

Currently, India is positioned at 4th place in the World ODI rankings. The last time India met West Indies, the men in blue clean sweeped the series with a 3-0 margin under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. But this time it’s a new challenge for the new look Indian team who will definitely try to make a mark in the international arena.
