The first edition of the International T20 League is up and running with every team playing their inaugural matches. In the 5th match of the league, we will witness a battle between DC and GG. The match is scheduled for Monday, January 16, 2023, at 07:30 PM. The Dubai International Stadium will host the game. 

Dubai won its first encounter against Abu Dhabi whereas the Gulf side registered its very first win against the same opponents. Both were fantastic wins with a huge margin to be specific. Now, the two teams will be up against each other and this is expected to be a terrific battle to watch for. 

Dubai put on a show against Abu Dhabi in their first match of the tournament. The Rovman Powell-led team posted a huge 187 for a 6-wicket loss in their 20-over tenure, and they restricted a mighty team, Abu Dhabi to 114/9 to enlist a comprehensive victory. Indian veteran batsman, Robin Uthappa smashed 43 runs, along with Rovman Powell scoring 48 and Sikandar Raza, 26 runs were among the top run-getters for the DC side. Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Akif Raja and skipper Rovman Powell picked two wickets a piece to restrict ADKR’s run chase. 

The Gulf side led by James Vince started their league campaign on a high note as they defeated Sunil Narine’s ADKR by a margin of six wickets. Vince played a bigger role as the captain and led his team from the front, smashing 65 runs off just 44 balls while chasing a low-scoring target of 115 runs. In the meantime, Shimron Hetmyer 14* off 7 finished off the game for the Gulf franchise. Chris Jordan and Sanchit Sharma scalped 3 wickets each while David Wiese and Liam Dawson were economical with their spells.

The pitch at the Dubai International Stadium is a well-balanced one for both the batting and the bowling side. The captain winning the toss will select batting first. The surface will support the pacers in the initial stage of the game. The spinners will come in handy in the middle overs. This venue is more of a batting-friendly pitch, and the batters will play their role in every half of the match. Not much difference can be found between the two sides competing in this match. The Dubai franchise has more depth in their batting lineup and on the other side, Gulf has more depth in their bowling lineup. 

But being on the pitch of Dubai they can use their bowlers to exploit the weaknesses of the opponents. Thus we fancy GG to win this match.
