Match 20: JFC vs. ATKMB

Preview

Jamshedpur has started their season in a very decent fashion as the red miners are 5th in the table with 5 points from three matches. The green and maroon has six from 3 games but they were thrashed by the Islanders in the last match and they will be looking for a lot of motivation after that horrible performance.

Against Kerala and East Bengal, the team showed why they are one of the teams to beat but against Mumbai, the team suffered their worst defeat in the league. Coach Habas looked clueless and you can’t say that very often. A team that has been so good defensively in the last season, looked horrible and after Deepak Devrani’s red card in the last match, Tiri will be coming back in the match. This is very important for the team. After Sandesh Jhingan left the club, the team looked awful in defense and also conceded 6 against FC Nasaf in the AFC cup. Tiri will be leading the defense in the match against Jamshedpur and they need that. This also means that Boumous, who was terrific in the first couple of matches, may get dropped as Roy Krishna, Joni Kauko, Carl Mchugh will probably be the three other foreigners playing. Against JFC, the team will be looking to play aggressive football and score a few goals. It is important as Habas always looks forward to sending a statement to all the other teams. After a horrible defeat in the hands of Mumbai, Habas will do exactly that!

Jamshedpur is not in a great position at the moment. Multiple players are not available and that will bother the team going into the match. Seiminlen Doungel and Greg Stewart are the two important players that the team will be looking forward to. Coach Own Coyle in the pre match press conference has said that even if Mohun Bagan lose their last game pretty badly, they still are a very dangerous side. “ATKMB are a team that’s at the top end of the league every year. It’s a wonderful team with a fantastic coach and great players. They are dangerous opponents and more so with the fire and motivation of trying to get back to winning again. We know we are in for a tough game and we have to make sure we are ready for that challenge”.

Speaking about Greg, the manager said, “Greg’s a player I have known for many years. When he was available to leave Glasgow Rangers, I did everything in my ability to bring him to the club. I believe the more we work together, the better we will be. Greg’s hungry to do well and has a great work ethic. It's never about one or two games, it's about how you perform over the course of the league”.

Match Prediction

Even though the Mariners suffered a big loss in the last match, you can expect them to make a comeback and win the match. Jamshedpur will not give much of a space but the likes of Hugo Boumous and Roy Krishna will pose a lot of threat on the opposition half. Also look out for Valskis, he can be really dangerous especially when Mohun Bagan defense is really miserable.
