The Indian Women’s team is set to tour Sri Lanka and England this summer!

Besides playing the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer, the Indian Women’s team will also play against Sri Lanka and England in a limited overs series. These games are pretty important in the context that these games will count towards qualification for the next Women’s World Series.

Mithali Raj and company will also play at the iconic Lord’s stadium on September 24 after missing out the last time. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan tour will begin on June 23 where the team will play three ODIs and an equal number of T20Is. All the matches in this series will be held at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy.

“The team will arrive in Sri Lanka on June 18. The first ODI is scheduled to take place on June 23, while the first T20I will be held on July 3. The tour will end with the last T20I on July 7”, a board official informed TOI.

The Indian Women’s team will travel to Lanka despite the country is suffering at the moment. The Indian board isn’t worried about the civil unrest in the country as the board official said, “Even the Australian men's cricket team is touring Lanka around the same time. So cricket shouldn't be affected by that”.

Post that, the team will travel to England to play three T20I’s and the same number of ODI’s. The board asked England to host a test match as well but the England board couldn’t arrange one because of the Hundred league.

With a busy schedule in hand, women cricketers are finally getting the amount of attention they deserve. The board also aims to host the Women's Indian T20 League from 2023. There’s a lot to look forward to in women's cricket in the coming times.
