Match 32: NEUFC vs. SCEB

Preview

The last two boys of the league will take on each with the hope of all three points. They are of course desperate for all three points as with this they would look to turn their season upside down. Khalid Jamil worked really hard and helped his team reach the semi-finals of last season but this season after Federico Gallego was ruled out, the team showed no chemistry and are at the second last position. The red and gold brigade showed great intent but their defensive tactics have been terrible and there’s very little they can do right now.

East Bengal is the only team in the entire tournament who hasn’t won a single match and against NorthEast; they have a brilliant chance to register their maiden win. They have scored a lot of goals in certain matches but defense has let them down. Captain and goalkeeper Arindam Bhattacharya might make his comeback as the former champion suffered an injury after twisting his knee in the second match against Mohun Bagan. This is a big boost for the red and gold brigade Antonio Perisevic will be key for the red and gold brigade for scoring goals. Coach Manuel Diaz however believes that with a little change in mood, his team can bounce back. “We try to improve the mood of the squad; we know it is a difficult situation for the team and that’s the reason every match is an even bigger challenge for us”.

NorthEast has never lost to East Bengal in their history but things can obviously change if Khalid Jamil doesn’t sort things out in the middle. Their defense has been shambolic thus far. The bad news keeps on coming as Deshorn Brown has also been ruled out of the match after suffering from a hamstring injury. Khassa Camara is injured and Hernan Santana is also doubtful for the upcoming match. In short, the Highlanders are in a lot of trouble. If Santana plays, he is definitely going to be one of the players to look out for. Mirshad Michu  has also been good with the gloves. He however will have a huge test on his hand. With a little support from his defense, NorthEast can eye for all three points but there’s no doubt that it is going to be a mountain to climb for them.

Match Prediction

It is going to be a very crucial match for both these two teams. They will go all out as this is a great chance to take home all three points. If NorthEast finds the gap in the defense, they can decimate the red and gold brigade. However, East Bengal will be favourites to win the match. Expect them to score some goals.
