Spurs derailed while Coutinho shines for Aston Villa once again!

Philippe Coutinho is probably on everyone’s mouth as the Brazilian has created havoc after his return to the Premier League. Even though Aston Villa couldn’t get the win against Leeds, Coutinho’s performance has already impressed football fans. He scored on the 30th minute mark to equalise after Daniel James put them past them in the 9th minute. Later, Coutinho set two for Jacob Ramsey in the 38th and 43rd minute of the match to make it 3-1 for Villa. Dan James however spoiled Villa’s party. The former Manchester United player scored just before the halftime to make it 3-2 while Diego Llorente made it 3-3 in the 63rd minute of the match. Ezri Konsa was given the marching order on the 87th minute mark but Leeds couldn’t take any advantage of that. As things stands, Aston Villa are 11th in the table with 27 points from 22 games while Leeds are 15th in the table with 23 points from 22 games.

Steven Gerrard, the Villa boss was disappointed with the result. In the post-match presser he said, “We should have killed the game really at 3-1 up. In the second half I thought we were poor. It was like a basketball game. I think we are disappointed with a draw”.

The coach was however very impressed with Coutinho’s performance. In the press he said, “Looking at Phillipe’s performance tonight, not just his goals and assists, if you don’t love watching that you shouldn’t be watching football. That was absolutely beautiful, some of the stuff he has done”.

Spurs on the other hand dropped points to Southampton after conceding two late goals. They went ahead after an own goal from Jan Bednarek in the 18th minute of the match but couldn’t hold on to the lead for a long time. Armano Broja made it all square in the 23rd minute of the match. Heung Min Son made it 2-1 in the 70th minute but Elyounoussi and Che Adams’ late goal in the 79th and 82nd minute respectively sealed the deal for the Saints. With this loss Spurs remained in the 7th position with 36 points from 21 games while the Saints are 10th in the table with 28 points.

Antionio Conte, the Spurs boss in the post-match presser expressed his disappointment. “For sure, we have to be disappointed. They were good but I think we made many, many mistakes especially with the ball, and I think this type of situation creates a bit of mental instability in the team”.
