4th Match: PR vs JSK

The 4th match of the South Africa T20 League will be played between PR and JSK. The match is scheduled at Boland Park in Paarl on Friday, January 13, 2023. 

PR is sitting on the extreme bottom of the points table with their first match lost against MICT. On the other side, JSK registered their first match of the season against DSG and is placed in second place on the points table. 

In the inaugural match of the season, Paarl drafted 147 runs in the first innings of the game. Keeper Jos Buttler smashed 51 runs off 42 balls while batting in the middle order. Later David Miller scored 42 runs off just 31 deliveries to end the innings on a good note. English speedster Jofra Archer struck three times along with Olly Stone picking up a couple of wickets in the process. 

In the second innings of the game, the man known as Baby AB’; Dewald Brevis played a stupendous knock of 70 runs off just 41 deliveries hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of 170.73. He along with Ryan Rickelton (42 off 33 balls) anchored the innings to an easy win for MICT in just 15.3 overs with 8 wickets to spare. Paarl needs to improve its bowling performance if they want to go further in this tournament. 

JSK faced DSG in the second match of this season of the South Africa T20 League, which they comfortably won by 16 runs. The Joburg side in the first innings scored 160 runs. Their top-order batters failed to fire, but their tail-enders took turns to fire back and take the team to a massive score of 190 runs. While Romario Shepherd smashed 40 runs off 20 balls, Donavon Ferreira remained unbeaten and played a very crucial knock of 82 runs off just 40 deliveries to fly off to a huge final target. 

In the second innings of the game, skipper Quinton de Kock smashed 78 runs off just 52 balls but other batters failed to support him in the run chase. Only his co-opener Kyle Mayers scored another 39 runs off 29 balls but it wasn’t enough to fill the gap. JSK bowlers were very successful in their process of restricting the flow of runs. Their bowling attack was led by Alzarri Joseph who took 2 wickets in the process of bagging the game for his side.

Both sides look very good in pen and paper but the point is JSK has proved their squad strength in their very first match of the season. They have a well-balanced squad with T20 specialist batters, all-rounders and bowlers. It will not be easy for the Joburg side to win the match with ease against Paarl. Yet, we predict the JSK side to win this match as they will be flying high on confidence as they have got a successful start to their campaign.
