Mike Hesson praises this dynamic Indian batter for his stellar performance in the Indian T20 League 2024

As per his performance for the Hyderabad franchise in the Indian T20 League 2024, Mike Hesson thinks that Abhishek Sharma will be the right choice for India after the World T20 League 2024. The Indian batting all-rounder smashed 75* runs while batting with Travis Head who scored 89* runs to unleash the unparalleled firepower of the Hyderabad batters. The opening pair of Head and Sharma chased down a total of 166 runs in just 9.4 overs as Hyderabad drafted a thumping 10-wicket win.

Hesson in an interview came in all praises to Sharma’s ability to play the spin bowlers in the powerplay overs and his development against pacers sealed his place in the Indian squad after the World T20 League 2024.

Hesson believes that there would be some changes in the Indian camp and Abhishek would be selected along with other young Indian talents like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal after the World T20 League.

“He can certainly face spin in the powerplay overs, in my opinion. He’s made significant progress against pace. He is an excellent player as he goes for the boundaries. There could be some changes after the World Cup, whether it is for Shubman Gill, Jaiswal, or him. There are several names, but he will undoubtedly be one that people will be talking a lot about,” stated Hesson.

Abhishek Sharma has fetched 401 runs in 12 matches so far in this Indian T20 League season. This is his second-best Indian T20 League performance following the 2022 season, in which he amassed 426 runs in 14 games for the Hyderabad franchise. The 23-year-old dynamic all-rounder has a strike rate of 205.64 and an average of 36.45.

The left-handed batter is on the top of the charts with the most number of sixes (35) in the Indian T20 League 2024. He struck 8 boundaries and 6 sixes during his tremendous knock against Lucknow. Hyderabad will get to host their final two home games against Gujarat and Punjab on May 16 and 19 respectively.
