Australia to tour Sri Lanka in June 2022

Australia will tour Sri Lanka in July-July 2022 for a full series, with the teams playing  each other across different formats. The tour will kickstart with 3 T20Is followed by 5 ODI and 2 Tests. Colombo, Kandy and Galle will host all the games, with Galle organising both test matches back to back.

The tour will also mark Australia’s return to shores after four long years. R.Prasada Stadium in Colombo will start off the proceedings with two T20I before the teams move to Kandy for the final T20I and first two ODI. The teams then return back to Colombo for the remaining ODIs and then finally move to Galle for the marquee test series which starts from June 29. The last time Australia visited Sri Lanka, they were handed an embarrassing 3-0 defeat in the Test series.

“We are in for some exciting cricket, especially considering that an Australian tour to Sri Lanka is taking place after 5 years, since last time they toured Sri Lanka,'' said Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket. "The T20 Series will help our preparations for the T20I World Series, whilst the Test and ODI fixtures are also competitions of immense value for us, as we aim to move through the World Test Series and also gearing up for the Men's World Series in 2023,'' further added De Silva.
