“Chokers of Indian T20 League 2024”: Ex-Indian batter criticises the erratic franchise
Chennai are back on the winning track after two straight wins against Lucknow and Hyderabad. In their previous fixture against Pat Cummins and co, the hosts won by a huge margin of 78 runs to register their fifth win in this season of the Indian T20 League so far.
On the other side, Hyderabad after they displayed brutal power-hitting capabilities crumbled under pressure and lost their last two matches in the Indian T20 League 2024. Their batting unit was on a towering rage before they clashed against Bengaluru for the second time in Hyderabad. Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen and Travis Head got dismissed early and the Orange Army couldn’t complete the chase.
In the game against Chennai, Pat Cummins chose to bowl after winning the toss, which indeed was not a good plan as the destructive trio failed to contribute. Ex-Indian player Navjot Singh Sidhu called Hyderabad the cokers of the Indian T20 League 2024.
“They are becoming the Chokers of this year’s Indian T20 League. Hyderabad cannot handle the pressure, and look what happened with them in the last two games. Once their top-order was dismissed, they couldn’t time their chase.
“The problem with them is that they don’t have batters who can win matches apart from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen. They are the heartbeat of the franchise, and once they return to the dugout, Hyderabad has no chance of winning the match,” Navjot Singh Sidhu expressed.
