Ind T20 League introduces new umpire signal for the 'Impact Player'

The Indian T20 League 20223 season kicks off next week, and there is huge and exciting anticipation surrounding the tournament, with predictions and opinions coming in from numerous parts of the nation.  The new and innovative set of rules will add to the existing excitement and will be implemented from this year’s edition.

While various other reforms, such as teams being allowed to go for the Decision Review System (DRS) even for Wides and No Balls, should avoid howlers, the Impact Player Rule has caught the attention of fans.

This rule will have a skipper listing four substitute players besides the playing eleven at toss. Any one of the four substitutes can be used as an impact player during the game and come in at the start of the innings, at the end of the over, or after a fall of a wicket. The player he replaces can no longer feature in the match. If a team has named four overseas players in their playing XI then the impact player must be an Indian Player.

Ind T20 League has now released the umpire signal for the introduction of the impact player. Umpires will have their fists clenched and hands crossed above their heads to indicate the same.

This innovation has been introduced to add more creativity and strategy in-game to assist the teams better utilise their resources.
