6 stars who barely featured in this Indian T20 League

Well, a team gets to pick just eleven players but a total of fifteen players are always in the pool. Based on the pitch and their performance in the practice sessions, these players get a knock. However, these six star players were far away from the discussion. Here’s the list of six stars who barely featured in this Indian T20 League.

  1.   Kuldeep Yadav

Before he was ruled out because of an injury, the Kolkata based franchise never considered trying the chainaman out! He was frustrated and openly criticized regarding his selection into the squad. Now, Kuldeep has been absolutely phenomenal for Kolkata in the past. He won many matches for the side single handedly. However, after the inclusion of Varun Chakravarthy into the squad, things changed and Kuldeep wasn’t given any further opportunities. Now, many can argue that his performance wasn’t good enough to earn him a spot in the playing XI but very few realize that the management needs to back the player, give him confidence in order to bring the form back. Now, as things stand, Kuldeep will definitely leave the Kolkata based franchise and look for a better opportunity elsewhere.

  1.   Ajinkya Rahane

Former Rajasthan skipper had a very hard time in Delhi. He got his share of opportunity in the Indian leg when Shreyas Iyer was injured. However, in the second leg when Iyer got back, Rahane lost his position and was never considered again. Rahane was not in form as well. He can only blame himself for barely featuring in the Indian T20 League.

  1.   Ishant Sharma

Another Delhilite who barely featured in the squad was Ishant Sharma. Here, his form was not the concern but he couldn’t really find a spot in the playing XI. Delhi is a stacked team with many quality players in it. With the kind of form Avesh Khan is in, you can’t think of dropping him and Nortje and Rabada are definitely going to feature. Thus, there’s not enough space for Ishant Sharma to feature in the playing XI and thus he’s another player who barely featured in the ongoing season.

  1.   Chris Lynn

The Australian featured in just one match across two seasons in the Indian T20 League. When Mumbai signed him in 2020, the fans were excited as Lynn is a kind of player who can change the complexity of the match at any given time. Playing for Kolkata, Lynn has done that time and time again and was expected to do the same for Mumbai. However, Mumbai never gave him the opportunity to deliver. As De Kock is a proven customer, he got the opportunity. When he wasn’t available for a game, Lynn stepped up and scored 49 runs when the entire team played poorly. With the mega auction coming next year, expect Lynn to join some other team and cause the kind of damage he is known for!

  1.   Harbajan Singh

Harbajan Singh is a proven customer in the Indian T20 League. Over the years, he has done things that any other bowler can only think of doing. Kolkata picked up this legend in the auction for 2 crore and then and there everyone knew that he will be used as a mentor of the team and get very few opportunities. In the limited opportunity that he got, Harbajan Singh proved that he still has what it takes. However, his age is a big factor and the kind of spinners Kolkata has made it difficult for him to feature in the UAE league. His time has come and by the looks of it, Harbajan might have already played his last game in this great tournament.
