Abhishek Sharma Powers India to Victory

India made a strong comeback in the second T20I as they trounced Zimbabwe by 100 runs after an opening loss at Harare. Abhishek Sharma's pyrotechnics catapulted India to the mammoth total of 234/2.

The visiting team chose to bat first. India lost captain Shubman Gill early, which probably worked as a catalyst for Abhishek's blitzkrieg. Opening the innings, Abhishek smacked seven fours and eight sixes in a 46-ball 100, the joint-third-fastest by an Indian in T20Is. Abhishek tore into the Zimbabwean bowling with the ever-reliable Ruturaj Gaikwad, and India milked 160 runs during the last 10 overs—the highest by any Full Member team in T20Is.

With the set-up act neatly done by the batters, it was left to India's bowlers to take charge. Pacers Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan made inroads early on into the Zimbabwean innings, slumping them to 58/4 in the Powerplay. Holders Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar strangled the Zimbabweans in the middle overs, collecting four wickets between themselves, and ultimately folded Zimbabwe for 134 for a comprehensive victory for India.

Abhishek's blitzkrieg made all the difference between the two sides, setting up India's mammoth total, quite literally putting the game beyond Zimbabwe's reach. His knock was a blistering one, laced with savage strokeplay, only going on to highlight India's batting prowess and ability of the team to bounce back strongly from setbacks.

That victory will certainly boost morale as they try to wrap up the series in the final T20I for Shubman Gill's side. For Zimbabwe, this went on to be one such lesson which will definitely push them to come harder in the next encounter.
