Joel Matip parted ways with the Reds

Premier League giants, Liverpool, announced that their defender, Joel Matip, will leave Anfield at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Matip was recruited by Liverpool in 2016, Cameroonian defender was recruited for free from Schalke after his contract at the German club expired.

The 32-year-old centre-back was able to adapt very well to England, he became one of Jurgen Klopp's best recruits and formed an extraordinarily strong defensive wall with Virgil van Dijk. Matip also helped Liverpool win several championship trophies, including the club's first trophy in the Premier League. Unfortunately, while at Anfield his career was often disrupted by injuries.

Joel Matip's contract at Liverpool ends in the summer of 2024. Previously there were rumours that Matip would not be with the Reds again after the 2023/2024 season ended. And it turns out the rumours were true. The Reds announced that the 32-year-old defender would leave Anfield. "Joel Matip will say goodbye to the Reds this summer after eight seasons helping the club to some of its most memorable modern moments. Thank you for everything, Joel."
