Ronaldo received a Red card as Al Nassr lost 1-2 to Al Hilal

Al Nassr was forced to admit defeat by Al Hilal in the 2024 Saudi Super Cup semifinal duel with a scoreline of 1-2 against the current Saudi Arabia Pro League toppers. The Visitors Al Nassr was eliminated, marked by Cristiano Ronaldo's red card. On Monday (9th April 2024), the semifinal of the Saudi Super Cup 2024 brought the Hosts Al Hilal and Al Nassr at Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium as this match was predicted to be fierce between the two best teams in the Saudi Arabian League.

That prediction was proven correct both teams presented an intense game from the start. The match was locked at 0-0 after the first 45 minutes several opportunities were created, but there were no goals. It was only in the second half that Al Hilal could break the deadlock when Salem Aldawsari scored a goal in the 61st minute, following Sergej Milinkovic Savic's pass and made it 1-0 in favour of Al-Za'eem.

In the 72nd minute, Al Hilal then delivered a second blow to 5-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo-led Al Nassr when Malcom continued Michael's pass to break into Ospina's goal and made it 2-0 for the Hosts. The Visitors continued to try to fight back in the remainder of the match, but Al Hilal played very well to maintain their lead. Al Nassr had even more difficulties after Cristiano Ronaldo was given a red card in the 86th minute. In the 90+9th minute, Al Nassr reduced the gap, Sadio Mane met Ghareeb's pass and finished with an accurate shot and reduced the lead to 1-2 which was not enough for the Visitors to take them to the final of the tournament.
