Roma legend believes there is a positive environment in the team now

Former AS Roma defender, Vincent Candela, praised Daniele De Rossi and the work he has done with the Giallorossi after replacing Jose Mourinho in January. As is known, Jose Mourinho was fired from his position as Roma coach on January 16. And former Roma captain Daniele De Rossi was called up as Mourinho's replacement on the same day.

Together with De Rossi, AS Roma enjoyed a good time with four wins in all competitions. Namely three important wins in Serie A and one friendly match against Al-Shabab on January 24. Roma's 4-0 victory over Cagliari in last week's Serie A match was very satisfying for Candela. He also believes that the atmosphere around the team has improved since De Rossi took over.

"They breathe a different atmosphere in Roma, there is more energy, more enthusiasm. Daniele is doing well, working on the pitch and the (team's) mindset," Candela said in an interview "I don't care anymore about what happened in the past, I understand the comments and opinions of many fans. Mourinho has already won the title for Roma, and he almost got the second, but he made some mistakes," he continued.

"Now, only Roma today is important, what they produce on the pitch and what they can do with the next challenge, starting with Inter Milan." This weekend, the 5th-placed AS Roma will host the top of the 2023/2024 Serie A standings, Inter Milan, at the Stadio Olimpico. And Candela is sure that this match will be exciting, especially as the current Roma players seem to have more energy when on the pitch.

"Victory is important, and victory is not obtained easily. Although De Rossi is right in saying that their opponents are a team that on paper Roma can beat," he continued. "He has restored a sense of ownership in this team, now everyone seems to be able to give 300% and on that basis, they can build something special," he stressed.
