Ashwin's bold prediction sets the stage for Bengaluru's potential move in the 2025 mega-auction

Ravichandran Ashwin cautions that Bengaluru's decision to target Rohit Sharma at the Indian T20 League mega auction could have significant implications for the franchise. 

According to Ashwin, Bengaluru's financial strategy for the auction would need to accommodate a substantial ₹20 crore for the acquisition of the experienced Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma has been playing for Mumbai since 2011 and has led his franchise to five Indian T20 League titles. In spite of being an outstanding leader, he has been replaced by all-rounder Hardik Pandya ahead of the Indian T20 League 2024.

Mumbai, under the leadership of Pandya, finished at the bottom of the points table with just four wins in 14 group-stage matches. 

There's a buzz that the Red Devils might pursue Rohit if he enters the auction. Ashwin believes that the Bengaluru-based franchise will make a bold move for Rohit Sharma. He shared this view while engaging with a fan who expressed interest in joining the Bengaluru club.

"You will have to keep ₹20 crore for Rohit Sharma. ₹20 crore will disappear for him," he said.

Rohit Sharma has amassed 5731 runs at an average of 29.69 for the Mumbai franchise. His runs came at a strike rate of 131.05, which includes two hundreds and 36 fifties.
