Preview 

With the ground stage of this season’s Aus T20 League coming to an end with this fixture, both Sydney Thunder (THU) and Melbourne Renegades (REN) will be desperate to come good and mark the conclusion of very dismal campaigns. 

THU won their third game of this season, but other than that, excluding a no result on December 30th, they have lost every other fixture. Many cricket enthusiasts will be particularly stunned at this when they see their top order comprising the likes of Alex Hales, Cameron Bancroft and David Warner!

REN are coming into this game with a two point lead just a rung above THU. However, a defeat in this match will result in them finishing at the bottom of the table. 

THU faced a massive 9 wicket loss in their last match. Furthermore, their season is over and they have nothing to lose so they might head into this encounter with a couple of changes. 

They do have vastly experienced players in their ranks though, and if the top three namely Hales, Warner and Bancroft- all contribute with the bat, they will be difficult to beat. 

But THU as a bowling unit has looked fragile so far. Apart from Tanveer Sangha, no other bowler has managed to put on a show this season. 

Although it has been a forgettable season for the Melbourne based franchise, they have been able to acknowledge the vital contributions to their side and to Australian cricket from two giants of the game this season. 

Marsh has been REN's standout batters this season. He bagged the Player of the Match Award in the Melbourne derby with an unbeaten 64 and has smashed three half centuries from five innings in this campaign. Fraser-Mcgurk is another batter who has shown promise for REN. 

This pitch will be conducive for spinners and the twin spin attack of Akeal Hossain and Adam Zampa will play a crucial role on Wednesday.
