The Australia T20 League 2024-25 is heating up. The Adelaide Strikers will play the Melbourne Stars in the sixth match at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, December 20. 

The Matthew Short-led Strikers played their inaugural season match against Sydney Thunder and suffered a narrow two-wicket loss. The Thunder were restricted to 182 runs with an 8-wicket loss in the first innings of the game. Jake Weatherald (40 off 19) and Jamie Overton (45* off 35) helped put a defendable total on the scoreboard. Although Henry Thornton and Jamie Overton picked up two wickets each while bowling in the second innings, it all went in vain as the Thunder managed to chase the target with two balls to spare. With this loss, they are now in sixth position on the league table. 

On the other hand, the Stars, led by Stoinis, have already played two matches this season and are coming off two straight defeats. They lost by six wickets in their first game of the season and an even worse eight-wicket defeat in their previous match against Brisbane Heat. They need to perform better on the bat and the ball to expect a finer spot than the second-last position in the league standings.
