England and Australia will lock horns in the fourth ODI of the ongoing series on Friday, September 27, at Lord’s.  The hosts on the back of a maiden ODI ton from their stand-in skipper Harry Brook remained alive in the series. Australia are currently leading 2-1 in the five-match series. The 46-run loss via DLS marked the end of Australia’s 14-match undefeated streak in One Day Internationals, which started on October 16, 2023, during the 2023 ODI World Series match against Sri Lanka. It was also the second-highest overall winning streak in 50-over cricket, with Australia occupying the number-one spot with a 21-match unbeaten streak in 2003. 

Brimming with confidence, the Three Lions will be eager to emerge victorious, level the series at 2-2, and take the visitors to the final match for the series decider. However, while the English batting did well, their bowlers still looked unpolished. Bearing that in mind, captain Brook could replace Brydon Carse with Reece Topley for the penultimate fixture.  

Meanwhile, despite leading the series, Australia will seek to gain control and an unassailable 3-1 lead with a win in this game. Skipper Mitchell Marsh, who rested the explosive opening batter Travis Head in the last game, might bring the southpaw back into the playing XI. But now the question is who will he replace? To further bolster the batting line-up, the visitors can likely play Head in the place of Cameron Green.
