Bangladesh Team Welcomes Salahuddin as New Batting Coach for Upcoming Tour
Salahuddin Appointed Batting Coach for Bangladesh's Tour of West Indies
Bangladesh men’s team batting coach David Hemp will not be part of the side touring West Indies, with the newly appointed senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin essaying that role in the Caribbean.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board had previously been reluctant to work with local coaches but the board’s freshly appointed president Faruque Ahmed has changed that, by naming Salahuddin as the senior assistant coach of the men’s side. Salahuddin, whose contract is till March 15, 2025, commenced his second stint with the West Indies tour.
Hemp joined the board as a High-Performance head coach in May 2024 but later took over the batting coaching role of the national team. It is learnt that Hemp, who did not travel with the team to the Caribbean, is currently staying in Bangladesh and will probably return as the HP head coach again.
“Hemp is not part of the team as we have appointed Mohammad Salahuddin as senior assistant coach. He will look after our batting," Shahriar Nafees, the BCB cricket operation in-charge said on Wednesday.
Nafees also said that Bangladesh has assigned India’s Akshay Hiremath with the performance analyst duties for the tour. He comes in place of Mohsin Sheikh.
