Ben Stokes willing to come out of retirement for the second time

England Test skipper Ben Stokes has disclosed his post-retirement plans. The prime all-rounder wants to be a coach, as he is unwilling to be away from the game.

The 33-year-old has been one of the top performers for the Three Lions and is a two-time WC winner. His crucial contributions to England’s success in the ODI WC 2019 and 2022 T20 WC are commendable.

Ben Stokes has lost only one Test series since being named England’s Test skipper in 2022.

“I love cricket and there is no way I can be kept away from it. The day I retire from the sport, I will try my hand at coaching and this is what I want to do for my love for the game. I would like to impact the career of a few people after hanging up my boots,” he said.

Previously, Ben Stokes had declared his retirement from One-Day Internationals but came out of it to play in the ODI WC 2023 in India. After that, he again stopped playing the 50-over format after the team’s defeat. Nevertheless, the veteran is likely to come out of retirement for the second time ahead of the 2025 Champions Series in Pakistan.

Expressing his willingness to be a part of the marquee event. Ben Stokes added, “It is hard to say no to big events. I am content with what I have achieved in white-ball cricket. I don’t know whether the management sees me as part of that or not. I am sure of having a conversation at some point. I will be happy with any outcome.”

He is not a part of the ongoing three-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to an injury but has a chance of contending against Pakistan in the white ball format of the game.
