Carlo Ancelotti, scripting history at Real Madrid

Ever since Don Carlo has made his return to Santiago Bernabeu, the Real Madrid manager has changed everything and the club is looking fearless and ready to decimate any team. Even in his time in the first stint, Ancelotti was known to build a team and finally bring the Champions League back to Santiago Bernabeu after 12 long years. During Jose Mourinho’s time, the club was winning matches of course, but the legend could never cross the semi-finals stage. Back then, Ancelotti made some crucial changes in the team and the result was there for everyone to see.

Things were a bit complicated this time. Zinedine Zidane picked this team from scratch in 2019 and made it a world class team. Even though the Blanco’s didn’t win the prestigious Champions League, they did win the Spanish League in 2020 under very difficult circumstances. Winning a major trophy wasn’t the priority at that time as there were a lot of younger players that were given a chance and the team was rebuilding. The next thing you know is that Zidane leaves the club and so does the defensive pair of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.

When Ancelotti was brought back, the team looked miserable. There were a lot of question marks in defence and also in the attack as Real Madrid failed to sign Kylian Mbappe in the summer. Since then what Don Carlo did is absolutely magic. He groomed Eder Militao and Vinicius Junior so well, that these two Brazilians are winning games for the Madrid based club every day. The mid-field trio of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro looks as good as ever and the team is looking like the title contenders once again.

The pair of Alaba and Militao in defence has given the confidence that Real Madrid can be this good defensively. Most of the fans thought that the club won’t be able to replace Ramos and Varane and will be conceding a lot of goals this season and eventually will drop a lot of points. Things didn’t work out like that. They have become pillars of the game and not giving any space to the opposition. Ancelotti even mentioned that “the quality of the two is extraordinary”. The three time Champions League winning coach is now on a winning streak as the Italian hasn’t lost any match in his last 9 games and Real Madrid are now at the top of the table in both La Liga and in the Champions League. Exciting times for Los Blanco’s.
