Chelsea set to sign goalkeeper Djorde Petrovic
Chelsea agree £14 million deal to sign Djorde Petrovic
Chelsea are set to conclude a deal worth up to £14 million ($18m) for New England Revolution Goalkeeper, Djorde Petrovic, as per sources.
The youngster is likely to undergo a medical in the coming days following a move worth an initial £12.5m plus a further £1.5m in add-ons.
The Blues will want Petrovic to compete with Robert Sanchez for the No.1 spot after letting Kepa Arrizabalaga go on loan to Real Madrid in addition to Edouard Mendy’s move to Al Ahli.
Petrovic has played 43 games for the Revolution and replaced Matt Turner, who left America to play in Europe for Arsenal last summer before moving to Nottingham Forest earlier this month.
Chelsea also signed Gabriel Slonina from American professional soccer club Chicago Fire last summer but loaned him back before agreeing a temporary switch for this season to Belgian club K.A.S Eupen.
But Maurio Pochettino will keep Petrovic to train with the first team squad since he only has twenty year old Lucas Bergstrom and Marco Bettinelli- who is injured. Bergstrom was seen on the bench in Chelsea’s opening two PL matches.
This deal will take Chelsea’s summer spending to nearly £340m - an all time record by any club in a single summer.
