Colombia beat Uruguay to face Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the Copa America 2024 Final

In the semi-final match of the Copa America 2024, Jefferson Lerma made the difference as 10-man Colombia beat high-flying Uruguay to play the finals against Lionel Messi’s Argentina on Sunday. There were angry confrontations between the players and the fans in the stands after the final whistle.

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez, who was involved in the fray, missed multiple chances before the Crystal Palace midfielder Jefferson Lerma headed the ball from a James Rodriguez corner in the 39th minute of the game.

Colombia’s Daniel Munoz was sent off at the end of the first half following a second yellow card for elbowing Manuel Ugarte.

Uruguay tried hard for a goal after the first half, but Luis Suarez was denied an equaliser when his shot hit the post.

Also, Mateus Uribe missed two chances at the end moment for Colombia but eventually, his side went on to hold the game well with a goal lead. Now, Nestor Lorenzo’s boys will face the World Champions Argentina in the final match on Monday, 15th July (05:30 AM IST), while Uruguay will face Canada in a third-place play-off on Sunday, July 14 (05:30 AM IST).
