Delhi sign Lizaad Williams as Harry Brook replacement

Delhi has signed South Africa speedster Lizaad Williams as Harry Brook’s replacement, who pulled out of the tournament following the death of his grandmother. 

Williams has joined Rishabh Pant and co for his base price of INR 20 Lakh. This will be his maiden stint in the lucrative league. 

Williams will strengthen Delhi’s pace department, which consists of his fellow countryman Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Jhye Richardson and Mukes Kumar. Mitchell Marsh and Sumit Kumar are the other two pace bowling all rounders in the squad. 

Lungi Ngidi was also part of this Delhi side, but the pacer withdrew from Ind T20 League 2024 as he was still recovering from the lower back injury he suffered during the SA20 earlier in the year. 

He was a member of the SA squad that featured in the ODI World Cup 2024 but made only one appearance against Bangladesh. 

He picked up 15 wickets for the Joburg Super Kings in the SA20, finishing fourth in the leading wicket takers list.

Williams’ arrival is a timely one for Delhi. They have lost two games on the bounce and currently find themselves at the bottom of the table. To make matters worse, they now have lost Mitchel Marsh for two weeks due to a hamstring injury. We hope the addition of a new player will change fortunes for the team in red and blue.
