Ebadot Travels with T20 Squad for Rehabilitation After Injury

Injured pacer Ebadot Hossain has travelled to India with the other Bangladesh T20 squad members ahead of the three-match series against India.

Hossain picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury during Bangladesh’s ODI series against Afghanistan in July 2024 and had to undergo a surgical operation following that injury which has forced him out of action thus far.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operation in-charge Shahriar Nafees on Tuesday said they are not sending the pacer to partake in the series, but instead to continue his rehabilitation further under the team management.

"Ebadot going with the team as he will continue his rehabilitation program in India," Shariar said.

"Let me explain the situation at the moment, the Tigers Program is closed as everyone is released to join their respective First-class teams. The Tiger management worked for three to three and half months. Ebadot is going with the team as Bayzid Bhai( national team physio) will assess him along with Nathan Kelly( trainer)," he said.

"He is not going to play, he is going there to further continue his rehabilitation program as per the request of the national team because there is the bowling coach and others who want to see him from close quarters," he added.

Bangladesh is slated to play three T20Is at Gwalior (October 6), Delhi (October 9) and Hyderabad (October 12).

Bangladeshi pacer Shoriful Islam believes Bangladesh has a good chance of winning the series despite the absence of their key players.

"We are practising for a long time and now let's see what happens now," Shoriful told reporters before leaving Dhaka on Tuesday.

"I think the team is good and if we can play to our potential we can produce good results," he said.

Fellow pace bowler echoed the same sentiment, adding that if they want to fill the void left by Shakib, they will have to play as a unit.

"We need to play as a unit to fill his (Shakib's) gap," he said.
