Second-richest person in the World, Elon Musk bids to buy Man Utd for £4.5bn

It is a great start to the year for the English Club Manchester United, who have been inching close to the Premier League title and giving a tough fight in the top-4. After the end of the Qatar WC, the English club has had six wins, two draws and only one loss, since the Premier League resumed. With Erik ten Hag, at the helm of the technical direction, tranquillity once again reigned at Old Trafford. However, in the last hours, international media announced that Elon Musk would be interested in buying the aforementioned club.

The 'Red Devils' were put up for sale by the owners, the Glazer family, in November of last year. Since that date, different interested parties have been reported, but they will only be able to present their formal proposals until this Friday, February 17.

However, recently, it was revealed that the owner of Tesla and Twitter would be interested in the sale initiative of the very important Manchester football club. Therefore, soon, the billionaire could send his formal proposal of him.

Multiple reports indicate that 51-year-old Musk's associates have avoided commenting on any possible interest, but sources close to him reveal that the wealthy do not want to pass up the opportunity to invest in one of the biggest soccer clubs in the world.

A proposal of up to £4.5bn is estimated to be adequate to close the deal, although, according to the disclosures, United's owners wanted to sell for between £6bn and £8bn. With a massive net worth of £157bn (according to Forbes, Musk is the world's second-richest person), he would have no trouble reaching a sale deal the Glazers want, even if he will have to compete with other wealthy takers.
