England will play a three-match T20I series against Australia at home in September 2024. After this, a series of five ODIs will be played between the two heated sides. England has announced the team for both the T20I and ODI series, The three Lions have included 5 new players in the T20I side. 

Three of these players have also been given a place in the ODI team. Batters 23-year-old Jordan Cox, 20-year-old all-rounder Jacob Bethell, 23-year-old Dan Mousley, 20-year-old fast bowler Josh Hull and 23-year-old John Turner have got a place in the team. These players may get a chance to debut in the T20 series against Australia.

Josh Hull was recently included in the team in place of Mark Wood in the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka. 6ft 7in left-arm pacer Hull has been given a second chance. Along with him, Bethell and Turner have been given a place in the ODI team. English spearhead Jofra Archer has returned to the ODI team for the first time since March 2023. Earlier he made a comeback in T20I. The 29-year-old pacer was part of the England team in the T20I World Series 2024.

The likes of Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Matthew Potts and Jamie Smith have also got a place in the ODI team. They are part of the Test series against Sri Lanka. This series will be very important for England-Australia as it is being seen for the preparations for next year's ODI Champions Series 2025. Jos Buttler will lead the English side in both(T20I and ODI) series. The players selected in both teams include Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Brydon Carse, Hull, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Reece Topley and John Turner.

The English talisman Joe Root who has scored 6,522 runs at an average of 47.61 with 16 centuries in ODIs has not been added to the ODI or T20I squad for this series.
