Ten Hag will 'deal with' Rashford after nighclub incident

Marcus Rashford is facing the fury of Erik Ten Hag after Manchester United boss said he will “deal with” the forward amid confusion on the timing of the night out in Belfast last week.

Rashford was not part of the United squad for the 4-2 win over Newport County in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The English international reported himself two days prior to matchday and could not train with the team that day or the day after.

Despite not being well enough to travel to Newport, he was present for training at Carrington on Sunday.

United were informed of a trip to a nightclub in Belfast that Rashford made on Wednesday, ahead of a scheduled day off on Thursday.

However, later media reports indicated he was also out on Thursday night, a few hours before he was expected to report to training in Manchester.

Ahead of the round 4 FA Cup tie against Newport City, the Man Utd boss refused to answer a question about whether Rashford had been dropped for the game as punishment and only said afterwards that the matter is being treated “internally.”

This is not the first instance when Ten Hag has been frustrated with Rashford’s conduct, stating in November that the striker’s decision to throw a birthday bash following United’s 3-0 defeat to city rivals City was “unacceptable.”

Rashford was also excluded for a game against Wolves last season after being late for a team meeting.

He netted 30 goals last season and was rewarded with a long term contract in the summer but has been appalling to say the least this season, finding the back of net on only four occasions in 26 appearances.

After a particularly disappointing outing in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle in December last year, Rashford was demoted to bench by the Dutch pragmatist for the next couple of games against Chelsea and Bournemouth.
