Ex-Manchester United Star Considering Retirement From Club Football
Raphael Varane's club retirement impending
Former Manchester United star Raphael Varane is allegedly considering retirement after picking up a serious knee injury at Serie A side Como.
The 31-year-old is going through a series of issues, mainly with his knee, implying he has only lined up once for his club since joining them in the summer. According to Le Parisien, Varane is not expected to return to action anytime soon and thus is considering an early retirement. Como’s superstar signing is not even registered as part of their Serie A squad and it is now down to the player whether to stick around or hang his boots.
Varane’s Coma contract could be terminated as Le Parisien states the defender will officially announce his retirement soon. The ex-French professional footballer is a four-time Champions League winner and has also clinched the World Cup, alongside many other big titles. He has represented two of the biggest clubs in the world- Real Madrid and Manchester United, and there is not to much more he can achieve.
Varane called curtains on his international career after making it to the final of the 2022 World Cup with France, losing on penalties to Argentina. But he has secured 22 titles across his illustrious career so it will have been rapidly forgotten and his trophy cabinet remains very full.
Varane’s contract at Como is until 2026, but a final call on his future is expected to come in the next few hours. Como host Vernona on Sunday, which could end up being the centre back’s final farewell to the fans.
