FC Barcelona Transfer News Roundup

Barcelona have been in a topsy-turvy condition under Xavi this season. The ex-Barca legend held the rope when the Catalan club was in a devastating financial condition. The Spanish manager was seen dropping down to the fourth place in the La Liga league after 18 matches.

With that being said, let's look at the major Barca transfer stories in recent times.

Barcelona have eyes on Andre

The Catalan giants are showing signs of interest in the Fluminense midfielder Andre, according to the famous Spanish daily newspaper, Mundo Deportivo. The Brazilian midfielder has appeared as an option to fill the shoes of Sergio Busquets.

The Spanish legend midfielder left Camp Nou this summer and Oriol Romeu, who was thought to be ideal for the role has failed to live up to the expectations. The defending La Liga champions have now turned their attention towards Andre, who appeared for the Fluminense at the Club World Cup.

Manchester City is also keen to sign Andre as the replacement for Kalvin Phillips. The defending Champions League winners want to sign the rising star next month. Yet the deal seems sweeter for the Barcelona side as their sporting director Deco enjoys an amicable relationship with the Brazilian side.

The Brazilian Tiger Arrived at Camp Nou

Vitor Roque has arrived at the Camp Nou and is ready to don the Blaugrana jersey. The Brazilian forward signed for the Catalan giants from Athletico Paranaense this summer but got registered as a Laliga player in the Winter due to age restrictions.

The Brazilian youngster said that he had always dreamt of playing for the Catalan giants.

"Thank you very much, I am very happy with everything that has happened in my life. It’s a dream come true now. I will try to learn as much as possible with the group. They always want to have the ball all the time, I will try to learn as much as possible with the group, and score goals too," said Vitor Roque

He also expressed, "It was always a dream since childhood, not only for me but for my family as well. To be here now for the first time is like a dream. I hope for lots of victories, to win as much as possible, and I will try to help the club as much as I can."

Barcelona are planning Vitor as a long-term replacement for the veteran Polish player Robert Lewandowski at Camp Nou.

The Red and Blue side were also eager to sign Claudio Echeverri, according to famous sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Argentine midfielder claimed a reputation at the Under-17 World Cup this year. His immense efforts have shifted attention at Camp Nou.

Claudio Echeverri, a potential target for Barca

In his column for Caught Offside, the Transfer analyst stated that  Manchester City are close to winning the race to sign the Argentine midfielder.

"Claudio Echeverri is close to joining Manchester City and today I want to explain to you what’s going on around this boy because Barcelona really wanted him. Deco is a big fan of the player and also other people in the club know this talented boy very well. He’s playing for River Plate and was under contract until December 2024, a dangerous situation for River because his release clause is just €25m euros going up to €30m in the final 10 days of the window," wrote Romano.

He continued his statement by saying:

“It’s impossible for Barcelona to make the deal happen because of Financial Fair Play restrictions, even though he was really tempted by the opportunity to join Barcelona because he’s understood to be a big fan. Chelsea made some contacts to make sure they were in the race for Echeverri, but at the end of the day, Manchester City are the big favourites and are advancing to the final stages of this story.”

Barcelona’s poor financial situation might have spoiled their place in the race to sign Echeverri.
