Flop show continues for Indian cricketers ft. Virat, Rohit and others
Rohit, Virat, Bumrah and more – What’s the matter with the Superstars of Indian Cricket?
We are already midway through the Indian T20 League and the fans are shocked to see how the superstars of our national team are playing. Players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and so many others have been shambolic and with the T20 World Series just round the corner, the team should feel a bit concerned.
At a point of time, winning the Indian T20 League was bread and butter to Rohit Sharma. He has won the trophy for five times but in this season, the team lost all their six games of the season. You cannot even say that there’s hope for them to make a comeback. Rohit with the bat in his hand has completely failed. As a captain, he should lead from the front but his pathetic form in the T20’s continues.
Same can be said for Virat Kohli. There was a time when Virat was untouchable. Virat not scoring a century used to be news and not him getting a century. Sun will rise and Virat will score a century but the same player hasn’t scored one in his last 100 competitive games. Against Lucknow, Kohli was dismissed on the first ball and he was left smiling. Fans are aware of the fact that Kohli is doing everything possible to get back in form but at this moment, nothing is working out for him.
In the absence of Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah was responsible for leading the bowling unit of Mumbai. No one can question his ability but the pacer looked very ordinary in this season. He took just four wickets in six matches and things need to change massively. Not just for Mumbai but for Indian cricket as well.
Then there’s Ravindra Jadeja. He was having a dream run before coming to the Indian T20 League but things changed when he joined Chennai. Days before the commencement of this year’s league, Jadeja was handed over the captaincy and many believe that this might have affected him in some way. In six matches so far, the lefty has scored 88 runs and took just 5 wickets. That is so not Jadeja like!
Players like Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant have been okayish so far. Rishabh Pant is back to the time where he forgot to finish games. He’s getting a very good start but he’s unable to convert that into a big total. Same problem he had two years back!
KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer were out of form as well but got back to their form very recently and thus the question remains, what the hell is wrong with the stars of Indian Cricket Team? Is it because they are playing too many games in such a short amount of time or something else? Whatever it is, the players need to step up and be the best version of themselves. T20 World Series is just round the corner and the team hasn’t won an International tournament since 2013! High time, boys!
