Dhammika Niroshana shot dead outside his home
Former Sri Lanka Under-19 skipper Dhammika Niroshana has passed away at the age of 41 after he was shot outside his home in Ambalangoda, Sri Lanka. As per the Sri Lankan Police the investigations are in progress to identify and capture the shooter.
Niroshana, who has a wife and two kids, had a bright cricketing career before his premature retirement from all forms of the game in 2004. An express pacer who could also bat a bit, Noroshana was a part of Sri Lanka’s age group teams making his Under-19 debut in 2002, before leading them in 2002.
While he never made an appearance for the senior side, he did share the dressing room with numerous future Sri Lanka stars such as Upul Tharanga, Angelo Mathews and Farveez Maharoof during his time in the U-19 squad and in the first class circuit where he first played for the Chilaw Marans CC and then Galle CC.
