Former United player Jesse Lingard Joins FC Seoul
31-year-old former Utd midfielder signs with Asian club
The 31-year-old Jesse Lingard finally has a new club. The former Manchester United midfielder officially joined South Korean club Seoul FC. Lingard last played for Nottingham Forest. After defending Forest for one season, Lingard left the club because his contract was extended.
After parting ways with Forest, Lingard was linked with several European clubs and Saudi Arabia. However, Lingard decided not to accept their proposal. Now it is certain that Lingard will try his luck in the South Korean League. He officially joined FC Seoul. Lingard admitted that he was very happy to join his new club. He can't wait to play in the South Korean League.
"Out of respect for Korean football, I am excited to play in the K League as soon as possible by playing good football and full dedication to my new team, FC Seoul," said Jesse Lingard on the club's official website. "I look forward to meeting coach Kim Ki-dong and making contributions to the team," Lingard added.
Lingard will start a new adventure in South Korea. The 31-year-old midfielder also posted about his arrival at his new club via his personal social media account. Lingard had 20 goals and 10 assists in 149 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions.
"A new beginning. So excited to finally be back on the field and doing what I love most.️ I'm so grateful for the love and support in South Korea."
The Asian side FC Seoul is set to play against Japanese club Roasso Kumamoto for a friendly on 14 Feb 2024, where the midfielder Lingard is likely to make his debut with higher expectations from many.
