Fully Fit Maharaj included in SA's World Series Squad
Keshav Maharaj has completed an outstanding recovery from an Achilles’ rupture he suffered in March and has been named in South Africa’s 15-men ODI World Series squad. Maharaj was anticipated to be on the sidelines for the remainder of the year after picking up an injury in a Test match against West Indies but was back in action at the weekend, for SA’s final ODI against Australia and has been proclaimed fit for the tournament.
Maharaj is one of the two specialist spin bowlers, alongside Tabraiz Shamsi. Aiden Markram gives a third spin alternative. All the three players will be playing their first World Cup alongside five other debutants: Temba Bavuma, Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen, Sisanda Magala, and Reeza Hendricks.
South Africa ODI World Series squad: Temba Bavuma (capt), Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Sisanda Magala, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der dussen
