Gautam Gambhir showers praises on 'Leader' Rohit Sharma

The Indian Cricket Team is in the seventh heaven during the ongoing World Cup ODI which is taking place in India. The Men in Blue is absolutely dominating every other team in this tournament and has won their last six matches comfortably. The victories came in because of the efforts of the Indian top-order batters and top-notch bowling attack. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the two top run-getters for the Indian side. The Rohit Sharma-led team is almost nearing the semi-final berth with the kind of form they are in.

Former Indian Cricket Team opener Gautam Gambhir whose contribution we all in the 2007 World Cup T20 and the 2011 World Cup ODI is hugely impressed by Rohit Sharma’s performance in this tournament.

"Leader - the thing he wants from the team, he does it himself. If you expect positive batting from your teammates, you have to do it yourself. This act - leading from the front - you have to do it yourself. No kind of PR or marketing agency can do it for you," Gautam Gambhir expressed on Stars Sports.

In Sunday’s match against the defending champions England in Lucknow, Rohit Sharma smashed 87 runs to get his side to a defendable target of 229 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Then team India bowlers marched on to clean sweep the English side at just the score of 129.

"Rohit Sharma has done that. Maybe in terms of run tally, he is at the No. 10 or No. 5 slot. It does not matter. But your aim is to win the trophy on November 19. You have to decide whether your aim is to hit 100 or win the World Cup. If your aim is to hit a ton, then you play that way. But if the aim is to win the World Cup, then a selfless captain, like the way Rohit Sharma has batted, I expect him to do that more."

Rohit’s stupendous knock also helped him to hit the milestone of 18000 international runs. He became the only fifth Indian batter to get to this level after Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli.
