Girona and Real Madrid share 48 points each on La Liga points table

The difference in points between Real Madrid - Girona and Barcelona in the 2023/2024 La Liga standings appears to continue to widen. Now, Barcelona has to bite the bullet in fourth place, 10 points behind its two rivals.

The competition in the Spanish League this season is quite interesting. Unexpectedly, Girona emerged as a dark horse which proved to be quite consistent and could be called a potential champion. Most recently, Gironistes performed impressively to beat Atletico Madrid with a score of 4-3. At the same time, Real Madrid narrowly won over Mallorca with a score of 1-0. Girona and Madrid win heated competition at the top. Real Madrid is currently leading, but their points collection is the same as Girona (48). So, Barcelona is now in fourth place with 38 points. They have to win if they want to stay involved in the championship race.

Girona dramatically succeeded in beating Atletico Madrid with a tight score of 4-3 in the La Liga 2023/2024 weekday 19 match which took place at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi on Wednesday.

Barcelona will only compete on Thursday when they visit Las Palmas, Xavi's squad should be more favoured, but now they have to face pressure. As a result, Barca must win over Las Palmas later to close the gap. Being 10 points behind in the middle of the season is certainly very far, not a favourable situation. If they win, Barca can cut their deficit to seven points. There's still a lot, but at least they have more opportunities to catch up.
