Getafe stunned third-placed by 1-0 in the match 29 of the league

Girona lost at Estadio Coliseum on their visit to Getefa in match 29 of La Liga 2023/2024 on Sunday (17/3/2024). The Hosts Getafe defeated the third-placed Girona by 1-0 with the help of Yellu Santiago who scored the single goal that decided Getafe’s victory over Visitors, he scored the goal in the 34th minute.

This defeat was Girona's 5th defeat in La Liga 2023/2024, the Visitors have started to struggle in the 'running race' at the top. Currently, Girona (62 points) is 10 points behind Real Madrid (72 points) who are at the top. Blanquivermells position in second place has also been taken by Barcelona (64 points). When Girona lost, Real Madrid won at home to Osasuna, and Los Blancos won 4-2.

Real Madrid's four goals were scored by Vinicius Junior in the 4th minute and 64th minute, Dani Carvajal in the 18th minute, and Brahim Diaz in the 61st minute. Ante Budimir scored Osasuna’s two goals in the 7th minute and Iker Munoz in the 91st minute. With this result, it means that Real Madrid is unbeaten in the last 23 matches in La Liga, Madrid 17 times and six draws and their counterpart Barcelona also won, La Blaugrana won 3-0 at Atletico Madrid thanks to goals from Joao Felix in the 38th minute, Robert Lewandowski in the 47th minute and Fermin Lopez in the 65th minute.

Girona appeared sensational in their first 22 matches in La Liga this season during that time, Girona only lost once. However, in the next seven matches, Girona seemed to run out of fuel.
