Australia pick Glen Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh for Ind ODIs

Australia have picked Glen Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh in their 16 man squad for the three match ODI series that follows the ongoing Border Gavaskar Test series. Both players are returning from a long period on the sidelines with leg and ankle injuries respectively.

Maxwell and Marsh missed the recently concluded Aus T20 League with injuries. The former broke his leg in an accident at a house party following the T20 World Series. Marsh, on the other hand, underwent keyhole surgery to his left ankle.

The Australian Cricket Board’s national selectors have also roped in Jhye Richardson, who missed the Aus T20 League finals with a hamstring injury, while Josh Hazlewood, who is still recovering from the Achillies injury he picked up earlier this year remains out.

David Warner, who was recently ruled out of the last two tests due to an elbow injury fracture, has been included in the ODI squad. So is Ashton Agar, who was released from the test unit to compete in domestic cricket.

"With the World Series just over seven months away, these matches in India are an important step in our preparation. Glenn, Mitchell and Jhye are all important players in what we think the squad might look like come October," chair of selectors George Bailey said.

"It would be great for Josh to be part of this series but we have taken a conservative view ahead of a very important winter in England of which he will be an integral part," Bailey added.

The first of three match series will be played in Mumbai (March 17). The second game is scheduled two days later at Match 19 in Visakhapatnam and Chennai will host the final game on March 22.
